A battery’s voltage varies significantly due to temperature, size, discharge rate, age, how recently it was discharged, etc.Batteries lose capacity over time which the battery monitor cannot accurately account for.The battery monitor works by using voltage and current entering and leaving the battery. But, battery monitors are pretty close and are (way) better than nothing.Ī battery monitor is often compared to the gas gauge in your car, but that is not a good analogy. In short, their figures are inaccurate due to variability in how batteries function. The thing is, battery monitoring is not an exact science. i.e., if solar panels are generating +10A of current, and you are consuming (-6A) of current, the monitor displays positive 4A of current. The battery monitor shows us the “net” Amp current at any time. The shunt’s small data wire provides that data to the monitor display screen. The shunt is typically wired to the positive and negative terminals on the battery. We’ve got the higher end Victron BMV700.Īll current in or out of the battery goes through the shunt and gets measured. Alas, when we designed our solar system this product wasn’t on the market. If you’re going to be running any devices that potentially draw more than 1,000 watts, go for AiLi’s 350A version. But if the shunt ever fails, you’ll have to rewire things because you can draw from your batteries. If nothing breaks and you can deal with these issues, you’ll be pretty stoked to pay so little. Super short 2′ ft cable means you have to splice on additional cable to put the monitor display more than 2′ ft from the batteries.Hole for mounting is non-standard an unusual 2-1/8″ hole saw.The shunt housing is plastic which can crack when torquing the connections Bad instructions, and no technical specs.Display backlight stays lit whenever current going in or out, which can be hours at a time. It’s pretty lacking on all other fronts though. It gives us the basics: the battery’s state of charge (it’s remaining power), and how many amps are going in or out of the batteries. The AiLi battery monitor is the kind of knock-off we are all familiar with: basically functional, but suspiciously cheap. We will also give you our favorite battery monitors for different budgets. In this post we will review what a battery monitor does, whether you need one, and details to look for when comparing battery monitors. It’s also very likely to extend the life of your batteries. A battery monitor, especially a good one, makes using your battery power easier to understand and track. Not in the way that you need solar panels and cabling. Things to Look for in a Battery Monitor.Favorite High-End Battery Monitor (we’ve got this one):.Cheap Battery Monitor that will work and is better than nothing:.Our Recommendation for basically every electrical system:.Best Battery Monitors for Van and RV Solar System.By displaying the charge percentage, battery monitors help keep you informed about your battery’s state of charge so that you know what actions you need to take. That’s why battery monitors are important. That’s why manufacturers of laptops and phones, whose devices uses lithium batteries, recommend to not charge their devices to 100% to prolong their usable life.īut because standard 12v batteries do not come with a percentage charge display, it is too easy to ignore a battery’s current charge. These batteries do not like the be overcharged and kept at 100% for long periods of time. Lithium batteries are similar but in the opposite sense. That’s why it is recommended not to discharge an AGM battery past 50% The more you discharge AGM batteries, the fewer charge cycles and lifespan that battery has. Oftentimes, prematurely dead batteries occur because the user unknowingly over-discharged their AGM batteries. And many times, these batteries have died prematurely. If you have been doing van life long enough, you have almost certainly meet other camper van travelers who have had to deal with dead batteries. I tend to arrange directly into Sibelius, rather than write out the arrangements on blank music paper, although I do still sometime do this if there is a section that is troubling me. I also find that hand writing music makes for much quicker arranging, printing out the original piece on a piano staff and annotating it before putting it into Sibelius. With the improvisational approach (which there is nothing wrong with at all) I don't think you write harmonies that are as complex as you tend to follow a simpler pattern. The harmonies are also more deliberate because I am thinking about the chord progression carefully, rather than just improvising lines and seeing what harmony happens. The fact that I have to hear everything in my head, rather than Sibelius or a similar software package letting me hear an electronic version of the instrumentation also help, believe it or not! I think the 'orchestra in your head' is sometimes a more accurate representation of how a piece of music will sound than that generated by the (admittedly excellent) Sibelius sound set. When using a pencil and paper I have to think far more carefully about the harmony, counterpoint and how I am using and developing melodies. Sometimes Sibelius or similar software for computer or iPad can mean that I don't really think too much before I start adding lines, just improvising and editing to make them fit. I actually find that writing music down on paper first really focuses my composing. Should You Use Blank Manuscript Paper Or Your Computer? I know how annoying it can be not having the paper you need when inspiration strikes! I will try and get it to you as fast as possible. If you find you want a size or a format that isn't here just fill in the form at the bottom and let me know. I have created the manuscript paper in various different sizes and formats so you can choose whichever is most suitable for you. Blank music paper you buy in shops tends to have thin, light, blue-grey lines to make it easier to read the dots when you have put them on the staff. This makes it very difficult to see the notes you have written on top of them, especially if you have written in pencil. One of the problems with finding blank music writing paper online is that lots of it has very black staff lines. Download free blank manuscript paper hereīlank manuscript paper and a pencil are musician's necessities sometimes, no matter how much computers, iPads and other devices seem to be taking over writing down of music! In response to this largely unexplained phenomenon of vaccine hesitancy toward younger children, our research conducted in the spring of 2022 investigated why. Alarmingly, this number then rose significantly to 35.4% by March 2022. However, in December 2021, the number of UK primary school pupils' parents who were unlikely to agree to their child having a COVID-19 vaccination was disproportionately high at 23.7% ( Office for National Statics/ONS, 2022). On the surface, the UK appears to be largely pro-vaccination, with 93% of UK adults and children over 12 years old having received a COVID-19 vaccination ( UK GOV, 2022). It is therefore important to understand why attitudes toward children may be different and it is the aim of this paper to address this important gap in the literature. However, this is not demonstrated clearly in official statistics, given that over 90% of adults have received a COVID-19 vaccination yet a significant third of parents are hesitant to vaccinate their primary aged children. Existing research suggests that parents who are generally supportive of vaccination programmes ( Montalti et al., 2021 Pan et al., 2021), and “believe” in vaccinations ( Carcelen et al., 2021), are more likely to vaccinate their children against COVID-19. As such, understanding parental perspectives regarding their children becomes extremely valuable in understanding vaccine intentions for families. Vaccine hesitancy for children in particular, is a significant concern, given that children can play a major role in coronavirus transmission in both home and school settings ( Pan et al., 2021). Consequently, COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy on a national and international scale hinders global endeavors to combat the pandemic ( Evans et al., 2021). Our data provides original findings that will inform both policymakers and practitioners, building upon and extending the existing vaccination literature, furthering current debate and guiding future research.ĬOVID-19 vaccination programmes are part of a worldwide strategy for mitigating the long-term effects of coronavirus disease ( Szilagyi et al., 2020), and the success of such vaccinations are reliant upon high levels of uptake and administration. In the following article, we have identified a triangular relationship between government, media and interpersonal communication in shaping parental perspectives, leading to a mixture of both “pro-vax” and “anti-vax” attitudes in regards to the vaccination or non-vaccination of children. Through the analysis of semi-structured interviews, this paper is able to reveal detailed qualitative insights into the thoughts of UK parents and their attitudes toward children's vaccinations that quantitative statistics are otherwise unable to show. Listening to parental perspectives regarding the decision-making processes for vaccinating this age group, becomes fundamental in understanding childhood vaccine intentions. Vaccine hesitancy, for children in particular is an important concern, given that children can play a major role in coronavirus transmission within both families and schools. Vaccination programmes are part of the global strategy for mitigating the effects of coronavirus disease, but their effectiveness is reliant upon high levels of uptake and administration. However, expressions of child vaccine hesitancy rose steeply in the UK at the start of 2022 with 35.4% of primary school parents saying they were unlikely to vaccinate their children. The guidance stated that parents of all children in this age bracket should be offered the chance to have their child vaccinated and that the procedure was particularly important for children who have health conditions that put them at high risk. In March 2022, the UK Health Security Agency and the National Health Service issued guidance for parents of children aged 5–11 concerning vaccinations. 2School of Media and Communication, University of Leeds, Leeds, United Kingdom.1Institute of Childhood and Education, Leeds Trinity University, Leeds, United Kingdom.Carmen Clayton 1 * † Rafe Clayton 2 † Sultan Al-Azri 2 ‡ Ileyas Mogeh 2 ‡ Marie Potter 1 ‡ You will probably also notice some latency in audio between the headset and what comes out of the TV, this is unfortunately normal and there isn't really anything that can be done to fix this - I usually mute the TV audio and allow the sound to come from the headset itself so that the user dosen't get confused while they're in VR. Brutally effective and mercilessly paced, the film boasts the funhouse frights of an expert midnight movie. Long before modern horror fixated on the notion that a film’s terrors ought to be a reflection of the main character’s hidden trauma, The Descent gave the idea teeth, casting Shauna Macdonald as an emotionally scarred widow mourning the tragic deaths of her husband and child - she processes that pain by trying to outwit and outrun the hideous creatures that dwell underground, hungry to feast on her and her friends. But writer-director Neil Marshall’s second feature took that truism to disturbing new depths, sending his all-female ensemble down into a cave far beneath the earth’s surface. It seems the latter sent his thick-accented buddy to a Siberian gulag after World War I and married the man’s wife the estate’s master may also dabble in what Manners dubs “supernatural baloney” in his spare time. Having already made horror-movie stars out of Bela “Dracula” Lugosi and Boris “Frankenstein’s Monster” Karloff, Universal decided: Why not pair these icons together for double the shrieks? Like its unofficial companion piece The Raven (1935), this inaugural team-up is based loosely - very loosely - on an Edgar Allan Poe work, and finds Lugosi accompanying newlyweds David Manners and Julie Bishop to a castle in Hungary, owned by his old “friend” Karloff. Just remember, as you read this list: It’s only a movie. So we’ve gathered all of the old-school monster movies and modern serial-killer thrillers, the creature features and the slasher flicks, the canon-worthy creepfests from Universal and Hammer and A24, and come up this definitive list (or our definitive list, at least) of the greatest the genre has to offer. Naturally, everyone who helped cobble together the 101 best horror films of all time like scary movies. Of course you do! Freaking out with your fellow audience member when something shocking happens, or jolting together as one during a primo jump scare, is one of the great pleasures of going to the movies. This game is early on, I want to see more, I want to see Emily (MC) become more and more slutty, become the school slut, enjoying it. Both Doc and the gym coach are written to be of a “fuck it, if you’re ok with it then I’m ok with it” mentality when handling the co-ed’ness of the situations as presented. The adults are written to be mature for the most part. They are written realisticly and not as mature adults. They aren’t really meant to be likeable in this situation given that they are immature high school boys dealing with a exhibitionist/naked girl. I don’t like the general male student body, for all the right reasons. I don’t like the blackmailer, for all the right reasons. The MC can either buck against those with power over her, reluctantly give in, or accept and enjoy. The story is believable enough, there is suspension of disbelief. Either way I’m not docking a star for it. It stands out against current content, but reminds me of a more simple time with these VN/Games. I’m iffy on the water color visuals, I like it, but yet don’t. I disagree with that mentality, and maybe it’s just me personally, but if the story is “do Y and we will/won’t do X” and then the player refuses to do Y how do you not expect an abrupt ending? Anyhoosie, more to the point on this game. Where if they fight against the control then it leads to a bad ending/game over. I see many times where players complain about not being forced. I don’t know what it is that makes me like it so much, but one of my favorite things to see and read is when in a story where the MC is blackmailed into something, that it is just the catalyst that starts the events and the player, me, is given the chance to make choices of acceptance and the MC not only accepts the situation, but also finds out they enjoy it and are even willing to take it further on their own. The clothes rating system (1.3.4) seems to be a tiny bit wonky (some items are clearly very revealing yet the game doesn’t think so) – but maybe that’s not a bug but a feature. To me, both things are deal-breakers, and there are surprisingly few games that even attempts to thread the needle. Images are real life photos of some porn actress that have been put through some filter. At the same time the game does NOT use sadism to make you afraid or start crying. Moreover, you’re playing a girl that does NOT become a cum-crazed slut instantly. I cannot stress how good it is that about every boy out there is trying to get you naked, while no fuss is made over this – neither you nor anyone else thinks this is strange or creepy. This is a very good game, striking exactly the right embarrassment/humiliation notes. this game does a wonderful job of capturing the feeling of oppression that societal norms place on those of us fortunate enough to be born with a free spirit. the model for the animation is beautiful and the clothes make me feel so sexy, I can not stop playing. Never have I seen such a marvelous wardrobe within one game.
